I am an ANIMALA

– a download received during the making of the first set of animala pendants –

I am an A N I M A L A

I am not a decoration

I am a sacred intention

Earth – Air – Fire – Water are my devotion

Alchemy that unites our most essential notion

Trees aged in woods to give these beads

Little pods fell to offer my seeds

To form this tassle, bamboo was carved

For each little gemstone, minerals were halved

When you wear me,

Remember . . .

Where I came from

When you carry me on your person,

Remember . . .

We are all one

We were all born of stars,

And in Earth’s garden we thrive

Remember

love  & creation  . . .

Is what keeps us A L I V E.

Often times, during the making hours in my studio, words will usher their way into the hallways of my mind. They usually pertain to the thing I’m making, but bring with them some form of deeper insight into the thing being made, as though the item itself has a voice, a story.

I call the part of my mind that is observing me while I’m making The Inner Archeologist, because she seems to be always at work with a little soft bristle brush, dusting off the crevices and curves of the ‘Why’ of my making.

She is a studious, diligent observer and seems to have her own means of clairesentience with the formless realm of spirit. When my heart worried, while making these, that I really didn’t want to be making ‘just another piece of jewellery’ but yet, here I was, responding to some form of inner maker’s prompt, The Inner Archeologist began her excavations. I think these excavations are what allow spirit to come through.

This poem is what She shared with me.

To the outside world, myself, the Inner Archeologist and She are one. But I know deep down there are forces of trinity at play. And I am deeply grateful for their presence in my life.
